Catherine Baab is a senior reporter at Quartz contributing long-form features as well as Quartz’s popular monthly culture newsletter, Obsessions. She’s previously written for The Wall Street Journal, Slate, Literary Hub, and many others, and appeared on NPR and The Daily Stoic podcast. Her first book, Poe for Your Problems: Uncommon Advice from History’s Least Likely Self-Help Guru, was published by Hachette. She’s now at work on a more personal follow-up, Hello Gorgeous Monster: Mary Shelley’s Guide to Stitching Your Life Back Together, out from W.W. Norton in fall 2027.
